Dr. Steele serves as the Founder and Senior Pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Concord, North Carolina, a thriving ministry built on the foundation of winning souls and preaching the uncompromised Word of God. For more than 43 years, Dr. Steele has faithfully shepherded the congregation, leading with unwavering faith, compassion, and vision. Under his leadership, New Life has become a ministry open to all—regardless of skin color, background, or station in life—reflecting the heart of Christ in action and truth.
Alongside his beloved wife of over 47 years, First Lady Tonda Bostick Steele, and their two sons, Michael and Joshua, Dr. Steele has devoted his life to serving God and people. His ministry has reached far beyond Concord, touching lives across the nation and abroad through his powerful preaching and steadfast commitment to the Gospel.

Pastor Michael J. Steele Sr., a native of Harrisburg, NC, is a devoted leader passionate about faith, family, and community. He holds degrees from Barber-Scotia College and Hood Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry at Gardner-Webb University.
Before entering full-time ministry, Pastor Michael served seven years with the City of Concord Police Department, developing a deep heart for people. Since joining New Life Baptist Church in 2005, he has faithfully served in multiple roles and now leads as Executive Pastor, guided by Matthew 6:33 — “Seek ye first the Kingdom".
He and his wife, Dr. Aimy Steele, have been married for 26 years and are proud parents of five children. Pastor Michael is also the author of the best-selling book 10 Things to Help Your Marriage Today, inspiring couples and families to thrive through the love of Christ.
Pastor Gary Withers has been a devoted servant and leader at New Life Baptist Church since its founding in 1982. As the church’s first Deacon, he helped establish a foundation of faith and service. For over 20 years, he and his wife Brenda led the Youth Ministry, impacting countless lives. After retiring from Duke Energy, Pastor Withers became the full-time Assistant Pastor in 2001. He has overseen the Children’s Church, Nursing Home Ministry, Bus Ministry, and Soul Winning efforts. A true servant-leader, he continues to assist in various areas of the church and serves faithfully on the Church Board and Planning Committee. His life verse is Philippians 4:6 – “And the peace of God…”
Alongside his wife Brenda Withers who teaches the Women’s Bible Study, supports the Ladies of Destiny Ministry and actively assists in any capacity.
