Assistant Pastor Gary joined the ministry when it was started in September 1982. He was our first Deacon at the church. He served as Youth Director for 20 years with his wife Brenda assisting.
He retired from Duke Energy to become the full time Assistant Pastor in 2001. He was over the Children’s Church and Nursing Home Ministry for many years. He continues to direct the Bus Ministry and heads the Soul Winning Ministry in the pastor’s absence. He is a member of the Church Board and Planning Committee. He works with the Kitchen group, Maintenance, Food Pantry, Purchasing, and any other area of the church where help is needed.

His wife Brenda, a talented singer, ministers in song as a member of the music ministry. She assists with the Ladies of Destiny Ministry, and teaches the Women’s Bible Study class. She also oversees the Kitchen operations, and the Lady Ushers.
Pastor Michael Steele is a native of Harrisburg, NC and is a graduate of Barber-Scotia College (’98) where he received a bachelors of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, and did his post graduate work at Hood Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters of Divinity Degree.
His Career path led him to work for the City of Concord Police Department where he spent 7 years . He worked as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer and finally a Detective, where he spent most of his career.
Pastor Mike answered the call to full time ministry in 2005 and served as a Youth Minister and Financial Administrator and was ordained Assistant Pastor of Family Ministry in 2008. Pastor Mike currently serves in the capacity of Youth Pastor and leads You and I, a progressive ministry for married couples, Crown Financial Ministry, serves as Worship Leader, is a part of the benevolence committee and the financial team. Pastor Mike is married to the former Aimy Williams and God has blessed them with 5 wonderful children: Michaela, Mariah, Michael Jr., Maya and Myles. Pastor Mike has a desire to see families strengthened, understanding that if we have strong families, we have strong churches and ultimately strong communities.
Deacon Board Chairman
Deacon Edmunds came to New Life ready to work and serve in the ministry here. He is retired Air Force and is knowledgeable in many areas and skill sets. He brings to New Life many years of talent and working knowledge.
Deacon Edmonds serves in the following capacities:Deacon Board Chairman, Sunday School Superintendent Financial Ministry, Outreach Ministry, Soul Winning Ministry, Benevolence Ministry, and Current Church Board Chairman.
Kyndal has served children and families for over 14 years as a social worker in Philadelphia’s child welfare system. Her passion has always been in prevention services including summer camps and after school programs. Kyndal currently serves as the Youth Minister overseeing Children’s Church and bridging all ministries designed to serve the children and youth of New Life Baptist Church.
Kyndal Chase originates from Philadelphia, PA and is a graduate of Albright College (2000) where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Kyndal was a member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church since her childhood. She served them as youth leader from 2001-2010. Kyndal is married to Christopher Chase and they are blessed with two children, Keira and Branden. The Chase’s joined the New Life family in January 2015 after re-locating to Concord, NC.
Brother Joshua has been a member of NLBC for over 20 years. He serves as the Music Minister and in this capacity leads the band, the adult choir and praise team. He enjoys all forms of Gospel/Christian genres of music. He also plays the piano/keyboard and the organ and trusts the Lord to use his talent to the fullest ability possible. He enjoys his nieces and nephew and spending time with his family. He is a graduate of the School of Communication in Raleigh NC.
When Josh is not leading the worship team, he is enjoying time with his wife, Sofia Steele and two sons, Ayden and Austin.
Chief of Staff
Stephanie Wallace is originally from Windsor CT and is married to Glenn Wallace who serves in the Media Ministry, they have two daughters. Stephanie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Hampton University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Springfield College in 2005. In October 2009, Stephanie was ordained by Archbishop LeRoy Bailey Jr. of The First Cathedral Church in Bloomfield CT. While at The First Cathedral, Stephanie served in the Prison Ministry and led the Women’s Health Ministry. In 2008 Stephanie and her family moved to Cary NC where she served as the Interim Youth Minister and volunteered in the church office at Pleasant Grove Church.
Stephanie and her family made Concord their home in 2009 and joined New Life in 2010. She has served in various ministries, including the Food Pantry and Clothing Closet, Praise Dance, Recruitment and Usher. Stephanie currently serves on Pastor Steele’s Vision Team, the Church Board and is the leader for Intercessory Prayer. In January 2017, Stephanie accepted the role of Chief of Staff and is responsible for supporting the vision of Pastor Tommy Steele, coordinating the hire of new staff, facilitating monthly ministry leader meetings and bi-annual trainings.
Tanisha Torrence has been a member of New Life for 4 years. A transplant from the Bronx, NY in 2007, she searched for church to make her home. New Life won that search on Father’s Day 2013, her first time visit. Since joining she has served under the usher ministry, greeter’s ministry, missions ministry, hospitality ministry and adult choir. She accepted the role of church administrator and secretary to Pastor Steele in November of 2016.
